Shades of Green: Reviews & Ratings

A very lovely small pub with wonderful and friendly staff on hand. We were waited on by Martha the owner who is an absolute riot to talk with. The food came at a very quick pace and was over all very good. The burgers are very much cooked to order and mine came out perfect. The wings are finger lickin good, and the onion rings and fries were also cooked to golden perfection. The drinks were also wonderful and the cocktails were delicious. The interior did seem a bit rough in some places, but it did give a very cozy homly feel. I would highly recommend coming here for good food, good drinks, and good times. In my opinion this place really feels like a hidden green gem here in Berks County.

We have lived a few miles from this place for 20 years, but have always passed by it without a second thought. After looking up their reviews, we decided to give it a try, and I am glad we did. Parking is admittedly undesirable, and they have limited days/hours of operation. Once we were inside, we were promptly greeted and seated. Any questions we had were more than thoroughly answered. We chose to try their two specials that night, their shrimp and their smash burger. Both were excellent, as far as bar food goes. My husband and I both enjoy beer, and they had some really good options available. My husband even found his new favorite beer. We will definitely be going back, and taking our daughter and her boyfriend next time.

It's a"where everybody knows your name" place. Small, comfortable, reasonable prices, and friendly.

Being from Central Jersey, I've gotten accustomed to the hustle and bustle of daily life. But when I head into the woods or the hills the piney in me comes out. I love small town America and down to earth people. Welcome to Shades of Green. We were out in the hills of Pennsylvania and the family was hungry. We're sick of the standard chain restaurants and just wanted a local place to get lunch. We just stumbled upon this little gem. Ok, so the parking is a little sketchy. But then again, this place is a local joint so I'm sure the locals are accustomed to it. Once you get inside it's like walking back in time. The clock literally slows down. This is the way America used to be, the way it was meant to be. The food took a little longer then we expected, but we soon found out why. It appeared to be all freshly made. That's right, no frozen Bubba Burgers here. Real burgers on real buns. And no skimping on the fries here, we got a full old school serving. My son opted for pickle fries which were odd but actually pretty good! I got an S.O.G burger, which was fantastic. My only gripe was that it didn't come with lettuce and tomato, though, in hindsight, if I asked I'm sure it wouldnt have been a problem. The service was personal and friendly. We were made to feel right at home. And it was considerably less expensive then the mediocre fare found in Central NJ. If you're even remotely close by here you need to stop in. Old school service with homemade quality leading to an amazing experience. Put the hustle and bustle behind you, find that inner piney, and get yourself a taste of what America was always meant to be. Get yourself a taste of Shades of Green.

This bar was remodeled and had it's grand reopening on July 2nd, 2016. The inside is very clean and the staff is super friendly. They have a nice selection of craft beer and the food is DAMN tasty. It has all the traits of a nice dive bar, but none of the smelly parts. I really like this place and plan to frequent it more often.

Everything you really want or need in a neighborhood tavern. Marsha is basically the best, and mom seems to do most of the cooking. There is always a dinner special worth checking out.
